Modeled after Conrail C44 diesel locomotives, this engine is inspired by the high-horsepower road power used on heavy freight and intermodal trains across Conrail’s Northeast and Midwest network. Its blue Conrail scheme places it squarely in the railroad’s late-era mainline freight service before the system was divided between CSX and Norfolk Southern.
