The Amtrak Midwest network connects Chicago to cities across Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri through a hub-and-spoke system of eleven named routes. These include the Lincoln Service, Wolverine, Borealis, Hiawatha, and the Missouri River Runner, among others.

To modernize service across these lines, Amtrak began deploying Siemens Charger locomotives in 2017 and Venture passenger coaches in 2022. These sleek, state-of-the-art train sets will continue expanding across the region in the coming years.

The Siemens Charger quickly became a favorite among North American railroads for its versatility, speed, and long-haul capabilities. Today, more than 460 Chargers operate across 15 railroads, helping move passengers efficiently through both short and extended routes.
