Modeled after Caltrain MP36 diesel locomotives, this engine is inspired by the commuter power used on the San Francisco Peninsula before Caltrain’s recent electrification. The MP36 became a familiar part of daily service between San Francisco and communities to the south, representing the later diesel era of Caltrain operations.
